HN sees export turnover to surge by 7.2% in first half

VGP - The capital city of Hanoi saw growth in export turnover of US$4,856 billion during the first half of this year, a rise of 7.2% while import turnover fell by 8.6% compared to the same period last year, according to the Ha Noi Statistics Department.

 
 
The department reported that rising prices for export products and increasing volumes of exports, along with a gradual recovery in the world's economy.

In June, the local export turnover went up 3.4% over last year, hitting almost US$1 billion.

Hanoi chiefly shipped goods to China, Japan, the US, Cambodia, the EU, Singapore and the Republic of Korea.

Eight out of 11 export items saw rising turnover, including computer accessories and peripheral units (up by 34.5%), wire and cable (up by 32.6%), handicrafts (up by 27%), petroleum (up by 24%), electronics (up by 23.2%) and glass and glass products (up by 5%), amongst others.

Agricultural products, coal, footwear and leather products saw a decrease in export turnover. Agricultural products and footwear and leather products fell by 18.4% and 16%, respectively. Coal export turnover fell sharply by 37.9%.

Meanwhile, machineries, materials, machinery equipment saw a reduction in import turnover.

Machineries and materials dropped by 6.6% while machinery equipmment fell by 26,4%./.
