The campaign also targets to raise people’s awareness of energy serving, environmental protection, as well as climate change response towards low-carbon emission economies.

The local authorities worked with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to disseminate the slogan “Go more green” and launch the Earth Hour Campaign from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM on March 3, 2018 at Ly Thai To Flower Garden at Hoan Kiem district.

Offices, organizations, schools, enterprises and households will be encouraged to engage in the campaign by turning off unnecessary lights and electricity devices in one hour from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM on March 24, 2018 at the August Revolution Square.

Viet Nam first joined the Earth Hour campaign, which is an initiative of WWF, in 2009 as part of efforts to deliver on its commitments to reducing 8% of greenhouse emission by 2030 in response to climate change.

In 2017, up to 471,000 kWh of electricity was saved during one-hour light off./.
