HN looks to accomplish smart-city building by 2020

VGP – By 2020, Ha Noi will fundamentally complete basic foundation of service for a smart city, said Nguyen Duc Chung, the Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee.

Chairman Chung made the promise on November 26 while chairing a meeting of  the Ha Noi Steering Committee for Applying Information Technology on IT applications in 2016.

Director of the Ha Noi  Information and Telecommunication Department Phan Lan Tu reported that in 2016, the city deployed the online public service portal (egov.hanoi.gov.vn); launched the online public service system (at third grade) on judicial area at 12 districts. As of November, 24, the rate of online birth registration was 76%. Online death registration rate was 60%.

So far, the city has deployed WAN network to 584 communes, precincts, towns. Around 125 public services including 97 department-level services, 13 district-level services, 15 commune-level services were provided.

Around 12 types of business registration services without fees were implemented.

IT applications were applied in other sectors like education-training, transport, healthcare insurance, environmental resources.

Addressing the event, Chairman Chung assessed that the program on IT applications has been implemented in 11 months with initial outcomes.  

The Chairman asked the Ha Noi  Information and Telecommunication Department to perfect two documents on a framework of e-Government building and specific plans in 2017.

He also pointed out 33 top IT tasks for the city in 2017 especially deploying of third and fourth-grade public services and IT training for local staff.  

Chairman Chung announced that Ha Noi is one of the first cities which will pilot population database in an effort to tighten administration procedures; build a system on individual business households and special business professions.

In 2017, the city will update environmental database on space, water, flood areas and provide guides for domestic and foreign visitors, Mr. Chung added./.
