The event drew the attendance of Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Truong Son; Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy, and 2,500 pupils and students in Ha Noi.

Deputy Minister Son said that the campaign targeted to raise public awareness of washing hands with soaps as an effective and affordable way to prevent diseases.

The Global Handwashing Day 2019 promotes clean hands for all.

Hence, Mr. Son stressed the necessity to resolve inequality in handwashing and handwashing habits among different regions and ethnic minority groups, focusing on the handicapped, females, girls, and medical staff.

The official called on sectors, administrations at all levels, organizations and media agencies to collaborate with the health sector in promoting communication campaigns to raise public awareness of the importance of hand-washing.

With the benefits of hand-washing with soap, the Global Handwashing Partnership launched the campaign for the first time in 2008, stating that it is a simple and effective way for disease prevention.

Since 2008, Viet Nam in general and Ha Noi in particular have actively responded to Global Handwashing Day through various education campaigns./.
