HN increases green coverage
VGP – By 2030, Ha Noi will build 29 new parks with a total area of 2,900 hectares, so that it can become a green and clean city.
This is part of a local draft planning scheme for verdure, parks, gardens and lakes by 2030 with a vision towards 2030.
So far, Ha Noi has 67 parks and gardens; 111 lakes in the inner city with a total area of 1,146 hectares and 77 lakes on the outskirts.
Under the draft planning scheme, Ha Noi targets to put aside around 5,100 hectares to develop urban verdure and build 29 new parks with a total investment of over US$2.1 billion.
In the next three years, Ha Noi will construct five parks, namely Yen So, Dong Da, Nhan Chinh, Huu Nghi (Friendship), Tuoi Tre (Youth) and another park south of the Mai Dich National Cemetery, according to the Ha Noi Department of Construction.
The City will replace 4,500 plants which are prohibited in urban areas.
Addressing the meeting on November 8 to collect comments for the draft planning scheme event, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao underscored that the area of green trees and water surface is relatively low, particularly in core urban centers. He acknowledged that it is not easy to raise the green area there due to poor management capacity, poor public awareness, scarce resources and land allocation.
The Chairman assigned the Department of Construction and the Ha Noi Construction Planning Institute to finalize the draft planning scheme and submit it at the next People's Council Meeting./.
