On August 31, the Ha Noi Center for Disease Control confirmed a new imported case from India.

Deputy Director of the Ha Noi of Health Department Hoang Duc Hanh reported that from August 19 to August 31, Ha Noi confirmed no community infection cases at a meeting of the city’s Steering Committee on COVID-19 prevention and control.

Hence, from July 25, the city witnessed 37 cases including 11 community cases and 26 imported ones with no fatalities.

Deputy Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy reported that Ha Noi has finalized the mass testing of returnees from Da Nang and is optimistic about the risk prevention.

However, Mr. Quy underlined four limitations including the lack of people’s awareness on face mask wearing at public places; illegal operation of karaoke bars despite bans, and inefficient enforcement of social distancing rules in restaurants and coffee shops, and modest safety levels at some hospitals.

The Deputy Chairman pointed out eight tasks while the city is pursuing ‘dual’ goals of preventing disease and developing the economy.

Mr. Quy underlined the necessity to review and crack down on COVID-19 clusters; call upon people to wear facemasks; avoid mass gatherings; strictly punish illegal operation of karaoke bars; inspect safety levels of hospitals. The Department of Transport was asked to ensure travel safety on the upcoming National Day on September 2./.
