HN eyes US $12,000 per capita income by 2030

VGP – Hà Nội determines to achieve seven-fold increase in per capita income in the next 20 years from US $1,700 in 2009 to US $12,000 in 2030.

The goal is stated in the draft strategy for socio-economic development of Hà Nội by 2030 and vision to 2050 which was introduced at the opening session of the 20th meeting of the 13th Municipal People’s Council on April 20.

Under the draft, the capital city targets to become the nation’s political, administrative, cultural, economic, international trade, education and training hub.

By 2030, Hà Nội will take the lead in such fields as economic growth, good living standards, high per capita income, people’s better access to high-quality services, and internationally-standardized working and investment climate.

In economic sphere, Hà Nội aims to attain annual average gross domestic product (GDP) of 9-10% during the 2011-2020 period, and 7.5-8.5% in 2021-2030.

Noticeably, the city looks to raise people’s per capita income to US $5,100-5,300 in 2020 and US $$11,000-12,000 in 2030. 

Service, industry-construction and agriculture will account for 59-60%, 34-35% and 5-6% of the local economic structure respectively.  

In the next 20 years, the capital city is expected to have a population of around 9.4-9.5 million, of which 70% will live in urban areas.
