HN conference analyses Dien Bien Phu victory

VGP - More than 200 domestic and foreign scientists joined together in a conference in Ha Noi on May 5 to discuss the Dien Bien Phu victory which helped Viet Nam end French colonial rule 60 years ago.

At the event, participants highlighted the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, late President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap for the success of the campaign.
They concurred that the Dien Bien Phu victory affirmed the will of Viet Nam’s revolutionary forces and the country’s military capability of protecting national territorial integrity.
They also concluded that the victory contributed to promoting international cooperation between Viet Nam and other countries as well as asserting the country’s position in the international arena.
Dr. Nguyen Van Nhat, Director of the Viet Nam’s Institute of History, also Russia Academy of Sciences, introduced participants to new documents and videos by Russian filmmakers on the victory and the restoration of peace in Viet Nam’s northern region.-VNA
