HN beefs up ties with Sri Lanka

VGP – Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung hosted a reception for Sri Lankan outgoing Ambassador to Viet Nam Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanyake on January 23 in Ha Noi.

Ambassador Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanyake took the occasion to thank the Chairman and the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee for supporting her to implement a series of programs on culture, gastronomy, and art. 

The guest leader said that Ha Noi is an extremely beautiful city, a special capital. The Ambassador hoped that the Capital’s air space would become greener, cleaner, and more beautiful. 

According to Ms. Saranya Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanyake, Sri Lanka has recently inked a code of conduct on plastic waste prevention. Hence, the Ambassador hoped that other countries should bear the responsibility for environmental protection. The guest leader also hoped that her successor would work closely with Viet Nam in general and Ha Noi in particular in industry, trade, and tourism. 

In reply, Chairman Chung congratulated the Ambassador on her successful mission in Viet Nam. The host leader also praised the Ambassador’s positive contribution to the bilateral ties over the past three years especially in cultural exchanges. 

According to the host leader, there are wide door for the two countries to tap especially in investment, trade, culture and tourism. 

Mr. Chung also hoped that the outgoing Ambassador would serve as a bridge to boost the bilateral ties between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka in general and Ha Noi and Sri Lankan localities in particular./.
