HN announces urban railway route planning

VGP - The Hà Nội Architecture Planning Department has publicized the planning of a pilot project on the building of an urban railway route.

The route’s main section, stretching from Nhổn area in outlying district of Từ Liêm to inner Hà Nội Railway Station, has a length of 12.2 km, including 8.5 km elevated and 4km underground. There will be 12 surface and underground depots along the route.

The project has total investment of €783 million, including €280 million from French ODA and €503 million as Vietnam’s reciprocal capital. Its construction is scheduled to start in February 2012.

The route is expected to serve some 8,600 passengers per hour by 2015 when it starts providing service.
