Hanoi to have more hospital beds

VGP - Hanoi will increase the number of hospital beds per 10,000 residents to 20 by 2015, to 25 by 2020 and to 30 by 2030, according to a plan on developing the city’s healthcare system till 2020.

The municipal People’s Committee has approved the plan with total investment of some VND 43,360 billion for the 2011-2020 period.

Under the plan, the number of doctors per 10,000 residents will rise to 12.5 by 2015, to 13.5 by 2020 and to 14 by 2030.

The HIV infection rate in the community is kept under 0.3% by 2020. The city will also lower the rate of malnourished children aged under 5 to 10% by 2015, below 8% by 2020 and below 7% by 2030 from 11.9% in 2010.

Hanoi will strive to slash the natural population growth rate to 11.5‰ by 2015, below 10‰ by 2030, from nearly 12.3‰ in 2010. Its residents’ average life expectancy is poised to increase to 79 years by 2015, to 80 by 2020 and 81 by 2030.
