Ha Noi’s FDI nearly triples in 10 months

VGP - Ha N oi lured US$6.3 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) capital during the first 10 months of this year, 2.8 times higher than the same period last year, according to the municipal Department of Planning and Investment.

Ha Noi has led the nation in terms of FDI attraction this year, the capital city topped the list of provinces and cities across the country for attracting FDI. 

 

It granted investment licenses to 492 projects with a total registered capital of US$5.18 billion and agreed for an additional 140 projects to increase their capital of US$727 million and for 543 foreign investors to spend US$440 million buying shares of Vietnamese businesses.

In 10 months, the capital city had 21,169 newly-established firms with a combined registered capital of VND230 trillion, up 3% in volume and 40% in registered capital compared to the same period in 2017.  

Despite this, as many as 1,309 businesses were dissolved whilst 5,587 businesses stopped operation. However, 2,807 businesses did resume their operation. Overall, Ha Noi currently has 251,065 businesses.

During the reviewed period, the capital city's businesses  created jobs for 151,000 workers, up 18.8% over the same period last year.
