Ha Noi’s export turnover soars by 31.1% in January

VGP - The Ha Noi Department of Industry and Trade has reported that the city’s export turnover in January reached approximately US$1.34 billion, up 2.5% compared to December, 2020 and surging by 31.1% over the same period last year.

Specifically, the domestic economic sector exported US$723 million of goods, up 2.8% and 19.1%, while the FDI sector registered an export value of US$616 million, up 2.1% and 48.7%.

Some commodity groups with a sharp year-on-year increase in export turnover included phones and components (up 93.6%); agricultural products (up 71.2%); glass and glass products (up 61.8%); ceramics (up 61.4%); and computers, electronic products and components (up 52.4%). However, petrol and oil export revenue went down 57.2% compared to January 2020.

The capital’s import turnover was estimated at US$3.21 billion this month, up 2.7% from December 2020 and up 45.4% year-on-year, with the domestic sector posting a value of US$2.55 billion (up 3.2% and 43.6%) and the FDI sector reporting US$660 million (up 1% and 52.9%). 

An import revenue hike was registered in some commodity groups, such as machinery, equipment and spare parts (US$600 million, up 60.3%); iron and steel (US$121 million, up 51.6%); computers, electronic products and components (US$196 million, up 43.5%); and petrol and oil (US$350 million, up 8%).

Two out of the 14 commodity groups reported a year-on-year decline in import revenue, including transport means and components (down 3%) and animal feed (down 16.1%).
