Ha Noi’s CPI rises 0.02% in July

VGP – Ha Noi’s consumer price index (CPI) in July grew 0.02% from the previous month and 3.7% year on year, while the city’s seven-month CPI rose 4.01% compared to the same period last year, according to the city’s Statistics Office.

Nine commodity groups recorded price increases, of which beverages and tobacco reported the biggest rise of 0.23% due to the surging demand for beer and soft drinks. The remaining eight groups saw slight rises. 

The prices of housing, electricity, water, fuels and building materials declined 0.18%, while the prices household appliances dropped 0.02%.

In July, the gold price rose 5.26% from the previous month and 10.83% compared to December 2018. Meanwhile, the US$ price slipped 0.54% and 0.21%, respectively.

The prices of fresh cattle meat surged 0.32% month on month, with beef price rising 0.05% and pork price up 0.45% due to the impacts of African swine fever, which forced pig herd to shrink and pork price to hike.

The 0.18% decline in the prices of housing, electricity, water, fuels and building materials was attributed to the drop in gas and kerosene prices. The gas price fell sharply at the beginning of July, which was the second consecutive decline so far this year./.
