The municipal leader made the direction in an express document delivered to the units on March 25 concerning the enhancement of prevention and control measures to minimize the spread of the pandemic in the capital city.

The direction was delivered following Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s conclusions at a recent meeting of permanent cabinet members on COVID-19 response and based on the actual situation of the disease in Ha Noi.

Chung asked units to reduce their meetings, make all-out efforts, uphold their responsibilities and coordinate closely together to deal with the relevant affairs without delay to ensure the COVID-19 prevention and control work.

He requested the prompt completion and operation of a field hospital for COVID-19 treatment in Me Linh district that is expected to meet level 3 under the city’s epidemic prevention and control plan.

He asked bars and karaoke bars to close until late March and conduct disinfection.

The local authorities encouraged firms to promote online working, online sales; and public services in order to minimize nonessential meetings.

The capital city recommended churches and religious organizations not organize activities which will summon crowds; suspend annual congresses and festivals; not send people to religious activities in other countries; not receive visitors from other countries and territories especially those from pandemic-hit regions.

Agencies were asked to strengthen communication to encourage local citizens to strongly change their habits and daily routines to adapt to the COVID-19 prevention and control requirements.
