Hà Nội to have new bridge across Red River

VGP – A new bridge, invested with VND 2,300 billion, will be built soon, connecting the two banks of the Red River, facilitating socio-economic development of Hà Nội and its satellite cities.

The Ministry of Transport just decided to construct the Vĩnh Thịnh Bridge, connecting Sơn Tây Town of Hà Nội and Vĩnh Phúc Province.  

The bridge is located on National Highway 2C in the belt road 5 of Hà Nội Capital City.

This will be a pre-stressed reinforced concrete bridge which can stand level-8 earthquakes. With the total width of 16.5 m, the bridge has four lanes for vehicles traveling at the speed of 80km/h.

The construction is estimated to last for 36 months, from 2010 to December 2013.

At present, in Hà Nội, there are five bridge across the Red River, namely Chương Dương, Long Biên, Thanh Trì, Thăng Long and Vĩnh Tuy.
