Ha Noi targets over 19 million tourist arrivals in 2021

VGP – Ha Noi has set a target of welcoming 13.16-19.04 million tourist arrivals in 2021, an increase of 45-65.5% compared to the 2019 figure, with domestic arrivals expected to surge by 50-70% to 10.96-15.34 million.

After making a forecast and assessment of the situation of the pandemic, the capital’s tourism sector expects a scenario of prompt recovery and development, thus setting an optimal goal for this year.

The occupancy rate of local tourist accommodation establishments is targeted to reach 45-50% in 2021. 

Last year, all tourism targets of Ha Noi were under par due to the impacts of COVID-19. 

However, in the context of the world and Viet Nam being hit by the pandemic, those results demonstrated the great efforts of the city’s tourism industry. Despite causing some turbulence, COVID-19 has also opened new trends.

Therefore, travel organizations and businesses have been proactive and creative in developing new directions and tourist products in line with the capital’s potential and advantages. 

Some focuses are cultural, heritage, culinary, festival, and craft village tourism; agricultural and ecological tourism; tours for students; medical and healthcare tourism; and tourism associated with cultural, sports and trade events.

Night tours at the Hoa Lo Prison relic and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, and some inner-city tours around the Old Quarter and four ancient temples of Ha Noi are being highly appreciated. 

Ha Noi’s tourism sector continues to step up domestic tourism stimulus programs in association with the restructuring of tourist products and the tourist markets, the effective exploitation of the city’s tangible and intangible values, and the enhancement of linkages with tourist product chains in the region, in the country and in the world.

The Ha Noi Department of Tourism will continue to advise on the cooperation program to promote Ha Noi tourism on CNN in 2021 in accordance with the actual situation, while coordinating with domestic and international airlines and media agencies, embassies, international organizations and tourism service providers to welcome international survey teams and to attract tourist market.
