According to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, Ha Noi currently has 59 businesses manufacturing key industrial products, equivalent to 115% of the target set in the project to develop the capital’s key industrial products in the period of 2018-2020, with a vision to 2025.

Notably, revenues of these key industrial product manufacturers in 2019 reached nearly VND100 trillion (US$4.33 billion), with the export turnover at approximately US$1 billion. Enterprises participating in the project have been assisted by the city in organising trade and investment promotion activities, enhancing competitiveness, applying technologies, developing human resources, economically using energy and promoting clean production.

Worthy investment required

Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Industry and Trade Dam Tien Thang said that to address shortcomings and improving the competitiveness of key industrial products, the city issued a plan to implement the 2021-2025 key industrial product development project in late September with a total estimated budget of VND200 billion (US$8.66 million).

The plan aims to attract the participation of 100-120 businesses with about 150-180 products recognized as Ha Noi’s key industrial products in the period of 2021-2025.

To achieve the aforementioned target, the city will step up trade & investment promotion and support for enterprises, while organizing exhibitions to introduce products, combined with inviting major international manufacturers, importers and distributors to visit, connect and bring key industrial products into the global supply chains.

In particular, the issue of improving the business climate will continue to be prioritized through shortening the time to deal with administrative procedures in the fields of construction, customs, taxation and investment, towards creating favorable conditions for businesses.

Ha Noi will also focus on speeding up the establishment, construction and completion of hi-tech parks, industrial parks and industrial clusters to facilitate industrial development of modernity, high competitiveness, minimized environmental pollution, and connection with localities in the capital region./.
