Ha Noi seeks to become an innovation hub of Asia by 2045

VGP – The capital city of Viet Nam, Ha Noi, will strive to become one of the smart manufacturing and service centers and innovation hubs in Asia by 2045, as set in a plan recently approved by the Ha Noi People's Committee.

Under the committee’s Plan No. 76/KH-UBND, by 2025, Ha Noi will develop the 5G mobile network to ensure the people’s access to the broadband internet service at low costs, while basically completing digital transformation in the city’s Party, State and Fatherland Front agencies and socio-political organizations, and providing the municipal administration’s open data to serve people and businesses.

In addition, the capital targets to basically complete the building of the e-government by 2025, towards the formation of a digital government, as well as developing a number of smart urban areas in the locality and perfecting its innovative startup ecosystem. Ha Noi will also focus on developing the digital economy, which is expected to account for 30% of its gross regional domestic product (GRDP), and increasing labor productivity by an average of 7-7.5% annually.

By 2030, Ha Noi will become an innovative entrepreneurship center of the country and the nucleus linking the smart city network of the northern key economic region, step by step connecting with the smart city network in the ASEAN region. Besides, the city will basically complete the building of the digital government and strongly develop the digital economy with its value expected to make up 40% of the GRDP. 

With a vision to 2045, Ha Noi will become one of the smart manufacturing and service centers and innovation hubs in Asia, having high labor productivity and being capable of mastering and applying modern technology in the fields of economy, society, environment, defence and security.

In addition, the capital city will improve its mechanisms and policies to proactively participate in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the digital transformation process.
