Ha Noi ranks second nationwide in FDI attraction
VGP – As of November 2020, Ha Noi’s disbursement of foreign direct investment (FDI) has reached US$28.52 billion (accounting for 60.03% of the total registered capital of existing valid projects), ranking second nationwide.

According to a report of the Ha Noi People’s Committee sent to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), the city led the country in terms of FDI attraction with a registered pledge of US$7.5 billion in 2018 and US$8.669 billion in 2019.
The valid FDI capital has now stood at US$47.7 billion, while a sum of about US$28.5 billion has been disbursed.
As many as 97 countries and territories have been investing in Ha Noi. Real estate and construction has attracted the largest portion of FDI pledges with 36.5%, followed by the manufacturing industry (33.43%), trade and services (24.56%), information and communication (5.32%), and agro-forestry (0.19%).
Among the valid projects, there are 5,879 projects outside industrial parks with a registered capital of US$31.26 billion, 385 projects in industrial parks with US$6.76 billion, and 14 projects in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park with US$880 million.
Over the past years, Ha Noi has constantly facilitated and improved the efficiency of investment promotion activities, creating reasonable and effective cohesion between activities to promote domestic and foreign investment in all economic sectors of the city in a master and unified program.
In addition, the city has issued preferential policies; renewed the implementation method to effectively implement the work of attracting, calling for and orienting investment; and reformed mechanisms and policies to maximally attract financial resources from all economic sectors.
The Ha Noi People’s Committee has developed a portfolio of investment promotion projects and introduced them at the city’s annual investment promotion conferences, as well as through electronic portals and newspapers – 136 projects in 2017, 167 projects in 2018, and 282 projects in 2020.
Annually, the Ha Noi Investment, Trade and Tourism Promotion Centre has published, updated and re-published the publications and clips advertising Ha Noi’s investment environment with diverse content and appearance, attracting interest and positive response from domestic and foreign investors./.
