Ha Noi Party Committee convenes 17th Congress for 2020 – 2025 tenure

The event drew the attendance of 497 official delegates representing over 450,000 Party members across the capital city.

In his opening remarks, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Vuong Dinh Hue said the 17th municipal Party Congress is a political event of special importance that attracts the attention of the Party Central Committee and people nationwide.

According to Vuong Dinh Hue, incumbent Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong directed Ha Noi to successfully organize its Party Congress in order to set an exemplary model for other localities nationwide to follow.

The Congress must create a new momentum and make fundamental changes in all domains to help develop the capital more rapidly and sustainably. 

At the event, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Vice Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee, delivered the 16th-tenure municipal Party Committee’s political report submitted to the city’s 17th Party Congress.

Accordingly, Ha Noi targets to develop rapidly and sustainably towards a green urban, smart, and modern city with high competitiveness nationally and regionally and with a GRDP per capita of between US$8,300-8,500 by 2025 and between US$12,000-13,000 by 2030.

By 2045, Ha Noi will have a high living standard; develop a sustainable economy, culture, and society and become a globally-connected city with an international competitive edge.

The organization of the 17th Party Congress coincides with the local 1010th founding anniversary. The Congress is expected to devise breakthrough strategies for the city’s development.

The congress is scheduled to wrap up on October 13./.
