During a virtual meeting with districts and local departments on Wednesday afternoon to implement measures to prevent the spread of the disease, Chung stated that that more than 21,000 people returned to Ha Noi from Da Nang since July 8.

Among them, 87 showing signs of cough and shortness of breath have been sampled for testing, with eight negative for SARS-CoV-2 and the rest yet to produce results, he said.

As for the new confirmed case in the city, the F1 and F2 contacts have been urgently identified, quarantined and sampled for COVID-19 testing, Chung added.

Affirming Ha Noi at high risk of infection, the official asked relevant units to launch epidemic prevention steering committees at all levels, ensuring they are on round-the-clock duty to promptly deal with the disease-related information.

Local units and agencies must prepare antiseptic solutions and organize a wider review of people returning from Da Nang, he said, urging immediate home quarantine and sample taking regarding these cases.

The F1 contacts must be immediately brought under quarantine, while the F2 contacts can self-quarantine at home and receive daily medical monitoring, Chung requested.

According to the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, as of 6am on July 30, nine additional positive cases for COVID-19 were confirmed in Da Nang (eight) and Ha Noi (one), bringing the total number of infections in Viet Nam to 459./.
