Ha Noi leads FDI attraction in nine months

VGP – In the first nine months of 2019, Ha Noi’s macroeconomy continues to maintain a stable momentum.

Some socio-economic targets recorded a relatively high growth rate over the same period in 2018, with total budget revenue estimated at over VND185 trillion (US$7.95 billion), equivalent to 70.3% of the year’s estimate and up 14.3% year on year.

The local gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 7.35%, higher than the growth rate of 7.01% recorded from a year ago; the index of industrial production (IIP) grew 7.8%; and total circulation of goods sold and service revenue rose by 10.7% year on year.

Ha Noi’s export revenue during the period hit US$12.45 billion, up 20.4% year on year. The number of tourist arrivals to the city also saw a 9.5% hike, with international arrivals reaching 4.71 million, up 10.1% (3.31 million arrivals of overnight visitors, up 7.3%).

Notably, the local investment and business environment continued to improve, working to strengthen investment attraction. Ha Noi’s nine-month social investment reached VND245.8 trillion (US$10.57 billion), up 12.9% compared to the same period last year. 

The city approved the investment policy and agreed to raise the capital of 65 domestic investment projects with a total value of VND34.35 trillion (US$1.47 billion). Ha Noi continued to lead foreign direct investment (FDI) attraction with US$6.23 billion. 

From January to September, the city licensed 20,562 new businesses with a total registered capital of more than VND263 trillion (US$11.3 billion), up 9% in the number of businesses and up 28% in terms of the capital, thus bringing the total number of local enterprises to 273,734.

Ha Noi also created employment for 149,400 workers, meeting 97% of the plan, while holding 77 employment transaction sessions, recruiting 15,300 employees.

Since the beginning of the year, the Ha Noi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has managed and issued governance account codes for 2,527 establishments, cooperatives, enterprises and shops producing and trading safe food and farm produce in the locality. 

The Department has also issued transparency QR codes for 495 businesses who have completed the procedures to join the website hn.check.net.vn, with over 5,900 product codes under management, an increase of 2,700 codes compared to the end of 2018. 

Of the figure, more than 600 product codes originated from 30 provinces and cities, 200 codes and nine participating localities more than the end of last year./.
