Ha Noi leader urges public, transparent and accurate information about COVID-19

VGP – Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, head of the municipal steering committee for COVID-19 response, has requested publicity, transparency and accuracy in communicating about the COVID-19 epidemic to serve disease prevention and control.

Specifically, Chung stressed the need to extensively disseminate relevant information to keep the people updated with the developments of the epidemic in Ha Noi, Viet Nam and the world, as well as the COVID-19 symptoms to take proactive prevention measures for themselves, their families and the community.

The agencies concerned should boost communication to reassure the people concerning the city’s ability to ensure sufficient supplies of food, foodstuff and goods for local citizens, the official said.

He also directed the enhanced implementation of synchronous and effective measures at the Noi Bai International Airport, asking the municipal Department of Health and the Ha Noi Center for Disease Control (Ha Noi CDC) to develop a clear and synchronous situation handling process with full information.

The two units were also told to conduct disinfectant spray at all the places visited by the COVID-19 patients over the past few days, as well as in the main streets of Ba Dinh district.

Chung directed the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, in coordination with the Ha Noi Market Management Department, to ask suppliers, supermarkets, trade centers, retailers and shop-owners to ensure adequate supply of consumer goods for the people.

He urged the municipal Departments of Tourism and Foreign Affairs to work with Viet Nam Airlines and the Immigration Department (under the Ministry of Public Security) to verify the entire passengers boarding flight VN0054 since March 2, 2020, to inform travel companies, accommodation establishments and health centers of domestic provinces and cities, as well as embassies of countries so that they could warn their citizens.

Ha Noi also directed the Office of the City People's Committee (Center for Informatics - Official Gazette) to chair and coordinate with relevant units to urgently complete the City Portal on the situation of Covid-19 epidemic to Receive and transmit information to people accurately and promptly.
