Ha Noi launches project to end bullying in schools

VGP - The Ha Noi Department of Education and Training in coordination with the Plan Viet Nam organisation on June 12 launched a project to end school-related gender-based violence.

From now to 2016, the objects of the project are students aged 11-18 years old in 10 secondary schools and 10 high schools in 16 districts in Ha Noi.

The total cost for the project is US$ 1,016,238 (over VND 21 billion) funned by United Nations Trust Fund and Plan International organization.

According to Director of the Department of Education and Training Nguyen Huu Do, the project aims not only to equip knowledge and skills for students to prevent and cope with school-related gender-based violence but also to improve capacity of school board and teachers in creating a favorable environment to form and maintain their students’ attitudes towards gender equality.

The project is expected about 30,000 students and some 12,000 teachers of 20 secondary and high schools in Hanoi together with 45,000 parents, 100 education officials of related units and 25 mass media agencies will join in the project.
