Ha Noi int’l film festival underway

VGP – Under the motto “Movies-Integration and Sustainable Development,” the 2016 Ha Noi International Film Festival (HANIFF) was launched on November 1 with the participation of around 1,200 domestic and foreign guests.

This year, NHANIFF for the first time invited films from all countries and territories (instead of those from Asia-Pacific Region in previous festivals).

In addition, the festival presented special film programs from India, Italy, ASEAN, and Viet Nam and included film project market, a workshop on film production for ASEAN member states, as well as a seminar on Indian movies.  

The event attracted around 550 films including 300 full-length films and 200 short films from over 40 countries and territories. The Organizing Board selected 146 films from 42 countries and territories to participate in the festival.  

The Vietnamese delegation contributed two full-length films and ten short ones, and 17 which would be shown as part of programs of Feature Films in World Panaroma, Vietnamese Contemporary Films and ASEAN Films. 

The Organizing Board will grant awards for the Best Feature Films and Short Films, among others. 

All films will be screened free of charge at the National Cinema Centre, Kim Dong Cinema, August Cinema, Ngoc Khanh Cinema, CGV Vincom Nguyen Chi Thanh and CGV Mipec Tower. 

The festival runs through November 5./.
