One day after Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung assigned the municipal Department of Health to establish 10 working groups to conduct rapid Covid-19 tests in wards around Bach Mai Hospital, many mobile testing makeshifts have been set up.

Right from the early morning, many people came to the mobile station at the Dong Da Secondary School to queue for testing.

They were instructed by the medical staff to take the numbers and wait for their turn at the seats arranged two meters apart.

When their turn came, the people were first instructed to wash their hands with antiseptic solution and then walked into the health declaration and testing rooms.

There are three testing rooms planned for this mobile station, but just two of them have been put into operation. People were also told to restrict travel and were instructed to self-monitor their health conditions.

Through blood sampling, the rapid test kit will produce results in 10 minutes showing exactly coronavirus positive cases.

At mobile testing points, the medical staff are equipped with protective clothing and vehicles in service of blood sampling for quick testing.

Those who come for testing are guaranteed a minimum distance of two meters.

These rapid test points are expected to improve the ability of early detection of infection cases, thus helping specialized agencies to quickly treat, control, localize and suppress the epidemic outbreaks.

Rapid test kits made by the Republic of Korea were used.

Chung warned against a high risk of community infection after the first coronavirus infections at Bach Mai hospital – one of the largest in Vietnam - were detected a week ago.

The number of confirmed cases linked to the hospital has to date increased to 25 and it is expected to keep rising as more than 5,000 patients and their relatives have been sent to their homes in northern and central provinces.

Mass testing help early detect and quarantine suspected cases to rein in infection sources, said the Mayor.

According to the director of the Ha Noi Center for Disease Control, there will be four mobile rapid testing stations installed in the districts of Ba Dinh, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung and Thanh Oai.
