Ha Noi hosts 5th Int’l Puppetry Festival

VGP - The 5th International Puppet Festival officially opened in Ha Noi on October 8 with the participation of puppeteers from eight countries.

The event aims to boost cooperative relations in culture and art between Viet Nam and other nations. 

The puppet troupes come from Belgium, Brazil, Cambodia, France, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. They specialize in water, shadow, black light, hand or mask puppet.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai said the International Puppetry Festival 2018 is a meaningful  exchange event of art and culture, which is organised periodically to promote cooperation in cultural and artistic fields between Viet Nam and other countries in the world.

The festival is an opportunity for Vietnamese audiences to enjoy excellent water puppetry from all over the world. 

There will be various types of shows showcasing the cultural features of the participating countries including water puppetry, shadow puppetry, rod puppetry, glove puppetry and mask puppetry.

In addition, a workshop entitled Relationship Between Body and Puppet will be held on October 13 in Ha Noi.

The excellent shows will be picked for wide performance in the northern provinces of Vinh Phuc and Ninh Binh.

The festival runs until October 15 in Ha Noi./.
