Ha Noi: Goods meet the needs of consumers

VGP – According to statistics, the Ha Noi market reported a year-on-year increase of 13% in the total retail sales of goods in the first 8 months of 2019.

Economic experts have attributed the surge to the commodities’ diverse designs and stable prices, meeting the shopping needs of consumers.

Some industries registered high revenue growth compared to the same period last year, including food and foodstuff (VND54.4 trillion, up 21.3%), petroleum (VND35.5 trillion, up 20.8%),  and household appliances and equipment (VND26.1 trillion, up 9%).

In August, the total circulation of goods sold and service revenues in Ha Noi reached VND231 trillion (US$9.93 billion), up 1.6% over the previous month and up 8.8% year on year. For the eight-month period, the figure was estimated to hit approximately VND1.79 quadrillion (US$76.97 billion), representing an annual surge of 10.4%.

The total retail sales of goods and services in Ha Noi reached VND47.3 trillion (US$2.03 billion) this month, up 1.8% from the previous month and up 8.7% compared to the same period in 2018. 

Meanwhile, during the January-August period, Ha Noi’s total retail sales of goods and services hit VND363.6 trillion (US$15.63 billion), up 10.5% year on year.

Performing the management of domestic trade, Ha Noi’s industry and trade sector has been implementing the planning and state management work on trade centers, supermarkets and markets; developing civilized, modern trade and services; and carrying out the management and development of e-commerce in the locality.

Particularly, the sector also stabilizes the market, promotes regional links and trade promotion programs, and continues to monitor and closely grasp the supply-demand movements and market prices, especially concerning essential commodities in service of the people’s demands.
