The city is planning to increase the export of garments, textiles, footwear and handicrafts to the US and EU markets.

It will also make use of the Việt Nam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, which came into effect in October 2009, in order to boost the delivery of garments, textiles, footwear, handicrafts, wood furniture, seafood and farm products to Japan.

Most recently, the free trade area between ASEAN, Australia and New Zealand has become effective, and the municipal authority is encouraging its enterprises to pour electrical wires and cables, construction materials, metal wares, plastic products and software onto the ASEAN market; metal wares, garments, wood products, footwear and coal on New Zealand; and garments, textiles, computers and timber on Australia.

The enterprises of Hà Nội are also urged to promote their export to new or potential markets, such as Africa, the Middle East, West Asia and South Asia.
