Ha Noi delivers first COVID-19 shots to medical workers
VGP – As many as 100 staff members of the second branch of the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases (NHTD) in Dong Anh District received first COVID-19 vaccinations on the morning of March 8.

They are the first having COVID-19 vaccination shots in the capital city.
A representative of the hospital said that AstraZeneca vaccines will be administered to the remaining 300 staff members in the coming days.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Tran Van Thuan emphasized that the NHTD, Viet Nam’s leading hospital for infectious diseases, is an important treatment unit in the fight against COVID-19 over the past year.
“With the vaccinations for the hospital’s medical workers today, we hope that the staff of NHTD doctors will be more confident to dedicate their mind and enthusiasm to the pandemic battle,” he said.
Thuan added that the COVID-19 vaccination shots on Monday marks the beginning of the largest-ever inoculation drive with more than 100 million injections to be implemented nationwide.
The vaccination campaign is part of the Government’s efforts to effectively prevent and combat the disease, contributing to protecting, caring for and improving the health of people across the country.
The Ministry of Health calls on the people nationwide to take COVID-19 vaccination in turn so as to protect themselves and relatives for a healthy community, thus promptly bringing the country back to normality, Thuan stated./.
