VGP – In the near future, Ha Noi will focus more on completing the transport infrastructure system connecting to five satellite cities, as this is a very important premise that should be implemented immediately to create a strong boost for socio-economic development in satellite cities, according to the municipal Department of Transport.

Paving the way for opportunities

Over the past years, Ha Noi has paid adequate attention to and invested strongly in developing the road system and public passenger transport network in the city as a whole and in rural and suburban areas in particular.

Especially, since the capital construction and transport master plans until 2030, with a vision to 2050 were approved by the Prime Minister, one of the city’s key tasks has been the development of five satellite cities, namely Hoa Lac, Son Tay, Xuan Mai, Phu Xuyen and Soc Son.

Besides, the five satellite cities are also the nucleus to promote the development of Ha Noi’s suburban areas. Each satellite city has its own specific and mixed functions to support the central city.

Over recent years, the city has spent VND7 trillion (US$302.03 million) annually building new-style rural areas and upgrading roads, giving priority to developing suburban transport with an investment of VND2.5 trillion (US$107.86 million) per year (accounting for about 35% of the total funding).

A series of priority programs for suburban transport have been implemented, such as prioritizing budget spending for the construction of some transport routes in districts and towns, thus creating a premise to improve localities’ potentials.

Flexible and proactive mechanisms and policies

Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Transport Vu Ha analyzed that the recent achievements in local transport infrastructure development have been attributed to the persistent and drastic direction of the municipal Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee, as well as the synchronous implementation coordination of departments and localities, especially the consensus and support of local citizens.

He stated that a civilized and modern capital must have a synchronous, modern and smart transport system that ensure convenient, effective and comprehensive connectivity from the countryside and the suburbs to the central city, as well as to other provinces and cities.

“I believe that the important resolutions of the Congress and the Executive Board of the 12th Ha Noi Party Committee will continue to create a great motivation and bring a new and strong momentum for the development of the transport system of the capital in general and its five satellite cities in particular,” Vu Ha said./.
