Ha Noi appoints personnel replacing suspended mayor

VGP - Standing deputy chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Suu has been appointed to assume responsibilities belonging to the position of the chairperson of the Hanoi People’s Committee in replacement for Nguyen Duc Chung.

Mr. Suu will be in charge of the city’s operations to ensure the leadership and operations of the Party Committee of the Ha Noi People's Committee and the People’s Committee itself during Mr. Nguyen Duc Chung’s suspension.

As deputy chairman, he is responsible for the city’s agriculture and rural development, food safety, among others, and managing the districts of Bac Tu Liem, Hoai Duc, Phu Xuyen, Thuong Tin, and Ung Hoa.

Born in Ha Dong district, Ha Noi, Mr. Suu, 59, held the position of deputy chairman since 2011 after being director of the Hanoi’s Department of Planning and Investment in 2009-2010 and head of the city’s Party Organization Commission.

On August 12, another deputy of the Ha Noi People's Commitee Mr. Ngo Van Quy, was appointed to assume the post of head of the city’s Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung will be suspended from official duties for 90 days, to serve the  investigation into his role in three cases recently uncovered by the police 

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed the decision on the suspension on August 11, which takes into effect straightly.

The same day, the Politburo of the Communist Party of Viet Nam decided to suspend Chung from the title as Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee./.
