France helps HN improve public transport services

VGP – France has provided Hà Nội with VND 35 billion to realize a project to encourage the capital’s citizens to use public transport means.

The project, which will be implemented in 2012-2013, will focus on upgrading infrastructural facilities reserved for buses, including the building of transit points and private routes for the vehicle.

In addition, it will also center on further improving the quality of public transport services in an effort to persuade more people in using public transport means to reduce traffic congestions.

To enhance the quality of bus services, the capital needs to adopt policies to encourage businesses to invest in public transport, said Khuất Việt Hùng, Director of Center for International Cooperation in Training and Research of Transport University.
