VGP – The Ha Noi Oncology Hospital officially used the PET/CT scan to early detect cancer, making itself the first in Ha Noi to apply the high-tech machine system.

Director of the Ha Noi Oncology Hospital Tran Dang Khoa was quoted as saying that Viet Nam was among the second group of countries with the highest rates of cancer. Each year, Viet Nam has about 200,000 new cases of cancer with 115,000 deaths. Noticeably, the rate of successful treatment remains modest as a majority of patients found their cancers lately.

Thus, the Ha Noi Oncology Hospital worked with the Ha Noi Commercial and Medical Investment Joint Stock (CMI) to buy the PET/CT scan machine system.

Director of the Ha Noi Department of Health Nguyen Khac Hien proposed the Ha Noi Oncology Hospital  manage the services in a transparent manner to cut costs for patients.

The Director also asked the hospital to work with health insurance agencies to ensure benefits of patients and reduce the number of patientsseeking overseas treatment./.
