Encyclopedia on Hà Nội’s 1,000-year culture introduced

VGP - A four-volume encyclopedia entitled “1,000-year Civilization of Thăng Long,” a priceless treasure about Thăng Long-Hà Nội, was introduced on September 13.

The 10,000-page book, with more than 5,000 photos, maps and drawings, is considered the biggest and most comprehensive publication about the capital city’s all aspects, including geography, geology, history, economy, society, culture, government, law, healthcare, education, science, technology, vestiges, heritages, landscapes, celebrities and residents.

This is a common product of 1,200 authors who are researchers, professors, journalists, and staff of many embassies in Hà Nội.

At the book launching ceremony, representative of the compiling council said the book should be recognized by UNESCO as a world record. So far, 1,500 copies have been printed.

Over the last 1,000 years, there have been some 900 books about Thăng Long–Hà Nội, of which 272 are written in Chinese, 246 in French, and 383 in Vietnamese. Besides, 20,000 articles about the city have been published in Vietnamese and foreign languages.
