According to the municipal Department of Industry and Trade, after the three-year implementation of the project, Ha Noi has recognized 121 products from 80 local businesses as key industrial products.

The combined revenues of key industrial product manufacturers in the city were estimated to reach more than VND100 trillion (US$4.3 billion), while their export turnover hit over US$1 billion. These are the key industrial products with competitiveness, spillover effects and significant contributions to the capital’s economy.

In the period of 2021-2025, Ha Noi will strive to have 100-120 enterprises participating in the program, with about 150-180 products to be recognized as its key industrial products.

By 2025, local manufacturers of key industrial products are expected to contribute to 40-50% of Ha Noi’s industrial production value and 20-25% of its total export and import revenues.

At a recent dialogue between the municipal Department of Industry and Trade and key industrial product manufacturers, in addition to the advantages from the city’s policy support, businesses also touched upon the difficulties and obstacles they were facing, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, difficulties are forecast to remain in 2021 as many countries are still in the “hot moments” of the disease.

Therefore, through the opinions of businesses, the department will advise the city on solutions to remove difficulties and boost business and production development.

In particular, Ha Noi will strengthen the selection of key industrial products, accelerate trade & investment promotion activities, and support manufacturers of key industrial products to participate in the global supply and production chains.

In addition, the city will continue to speed up administrative reform, especially in the fields of construction, customs, tax and investment, in the direction of prioritizing and facilitating key industrial product manufacturers.

Businesses will also be assisted to access preferential loans, modern scientific and technological applications, and the training of human resources and corporate governance capabilities, towards the goal of developing key industrial product manufacturers into an important driving force behind the capital’s economic development./.
