CPI increases slightly in Sept.

VGP – The consumer price index (CPI) in September saw a month-on-month increase of 0.12%, the Ha Noi Statistics Office reported.

Out of 11 groups of commodities, nine experienced higher prices. Only two witnessed declining costs. 

The prices of restaurant and food services picked up 0.5%; followed by beverage and tobacco with 0.23%; household utensils with 0.25%. Education cost experienced the highest price hike at 1.33% due to higher tuition fees of private high schools and colleges. The group of housing, electricity, fuel, and building materials saw price decrease of 0.04%. Transport cost also declined by 1.82% thanks to lower petrol prices. 

In September, the CPI picked up 2.64% against last December and experienced a year-on-year increase of 2.31%. 

In the first nine months, CPI went up 3.74%. 

In September, gold price picked up by 3.4% against the previous month. USD price experienced a slight decrease of 0.05%. 

In the first nine months, gold prices increased by 5.11% and USD price picked up 1.55% against the same period last year./.
