Contract signed for the building of Nhật Tân main bridge
VGP - The Project 85 Management Board and the Japanese contractor IHI-Sumitomo Mitsui on Sunday signed in Hà Nội a contract for the construction of the Nhật Tân Bridge and the northern approach bridge totaling VND 10,208 billion.

At the contract signing ceremony, Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải said the Nhật Tân Bridge is one a major transport work and a new symbol of the capital. The bridge connects the city’s center to industrial parks in the northern bank of the Red River, including Bắc Thăng Long-Vân Trì, Đông Anh-Cổ Loa, Gia Lâm-Sài Đồng-Yên Viên, and shortens the route between the downtown and the Nội Bài International Airport,.
The cable-stayed bridge has a total length of 1.5 km and its northern pre-stressed concrete approach bridge is 1.58 km long.
The Deputy PM asked the contractors to complete the construction of the Nhật Tân Bridge on scheduled (October 2012) and the approach bridge in the same year.
He thanked the Japanese Government for financially helping Việt Nam build the bridge as well as other important transport works such as National Highway 5, National Highway 10, Hải Vân Tunnel and Bãi Cháy Bridge.
