Carelessness causes fireworks explosion at Mỹ Đình

VGP – A big explosion took place at 11.40 AM today at the Mỹ Đình National Stadium in Hà Nội, when two fireworks containers on Platform C caught fire. Investigators reported that the main cause was some carelessness during the process of transport.

Lieutenant-General Nguyễn Đức Nhanh, Director of the Hà Nội Police Bureau, confirmed the cause of the accident.

Four deaths and three injuries were reported.
The fireworks were imported by the Hà Nội-based company INTERSERCO to serve the art performance scheduled on October 10.

Hà Nội’s police quickly stamped out the fire, cured the victims and investigated the case.

This is an unfortunate incident but it will not affect the security work during the coming grand anniversary of Thăng Long–Hà Nội, said Lieutenant-General Nhanh.
