Capital strives for assigned tasks in 2018

In December 2018, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc assigned four tasks for the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee. Statistics showed that from January 1, 2018 to December 25, 2018, the Government and the PM assigned the city 233 tasks. So far, 182 tasks were fulfilled ahead of schedule. About 40 others were accomplished. Around 11 tasks have yet realized. The local authorities have spared no effort to complete the missions before January 5, 2019. 

Outstanding socio-economic development outcomes

Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung reported that in 2018 all 20 preset norms were met or even surpassed especially budget collection was higher than estimate. Eight socio-economic norms were outstripped. Export turnover jumped 21.6%. The rate of malnutrition among under five-year-old children dropped by 0.3%, higher than the preset of 0.1%. The proportion of trained laborers met 63.18% of preset goal. The percentage of rural population accessing to clean water reached 55.5%. Poverty rate decreased by 0.5%.  

In 2018, the domestic economy flourished in which big balances would be ensured. Total social investment valued VND 340.8 trillion, up 10.6% against the same period last year. Total FDI attraction hit US$ 7.5 billion, making the city as the biggest FDI attraction destination after 30 years of foreign attraction. Export turnover jumped highly, surging 21.6% (higher than the preset goal of 7.5-8% and 8.2% of import growth pace). 

GRDP per capital was US$ 4,080, 1.12 times higher than in 2015. The Capital welcomed 5.74 million foreign guests, representing a year-on-year growth of 16%. The city also fulfilled the preset goal of welcoming 5.7 million foreign guests in 2020 two years ahead of schedule. High-tech farming and production connectivity were encouraged. 

Investment and business environment including (Provincial Competitiveness Index) and Public Administration Performance Index (PAR Index) were improved remarkably. 

In 2018, 25,700 new enterprises were founded. The city housed 255,280 enterprises by the end of 2018. 

Striving for preset goals in 2019

In 2019, Ha Noi targets to drastically reform the investment and business environment; encourage innovation and startup; develop enterprises in both number and quality; continue to restructure economic sectors in combination with growth modal transformation; raise labor productivity and competitive effectiveness. 

The city also aims to better urban management, build new rural areas; manage resources; and protect the environment; develop culture, education; ensure society; boost vocational training; apply IT; and build smart city. 

Ha Noi will speed up the administrative reform; streamline apparatus; prevent corruption and wastefulness; ensure social security; and improve diplomatic work and international integration. 

Accordingly, the city set a group of 15 tasks and solutions to realize Resolutions of the Party, National Assembly, the Ha Noi People’s Committee and People’s Council./.
