Capital prefers eco products
VGP – The Capital city of Ha Noi has mobilized initiatives and resources of organizations and enterprises to minimize plastic wastes and promote the use of eco products.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment reported that Ha Noi daily discharges from 4,000 to 5,000 tons of trash of which plastic waste accounts for nearly 8%. In 2018, the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee issued Plan 206/KH-UBND on sustainable production and consumption in Ha Noi by 2020. Recently, the city issued Document 3549/UBND-DT on reduction of plastic waste in administrative offices, socio-political organizations, non-business units, Plan 232/KH-UBND on prevention and fighting against plastic wastes and plastic bags by 2020 with a vision towards 2025.
The city targeted to ensure that all units, agencies, organizations under the People’s Committee would no longer use plastic bags and disposable plastic bags since November 2019. By December 31, 2020, plastic packaging production sites will be limited.
The municipal Department of Industry and Trade reported that Ha Noi houses 24 trade centers, 140 supermarkets, 454 markets and thousands of convenience stores which still keep the habit of using plastic bags.
In the coming time, the Department will build different types of communication to encourage enterprises, customers, socio-political organizations to reduce plastic use ./.
