Capital enters top 3 in int’l economic integration

VGP - The National Committee on International Economic Cooperation on November 27 announced a report on international economic integration capacity of localities across the country.

Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City ranks first in the list, followed by Ha Noi, and then Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Thanh Hoa, Bac Ninh, Nghe An, Hung Yen and Thua Thien Hue. 

The group of 10 last localities in the list includes Yen Bai, Tra Vinh Yên, Dak Nong, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Binh Phuoc, Tuyen Quang, Bac Lieu, Hau Giang, and Soc Trang.

The report assesses economic integration based on 8 essential factors namely institution, infrastructure, culture, natural characteristics, people, commerce, investment, and tourism.

For commerce, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, Ba Ria - Vung Tau are in the top 3 with good turnover. For investment, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Ha Noi continue to receive priority from domestic and foreign investors.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade said the ranking is not aimed for sparking competition among localities. It provides a trustful data for reference and assessment.

The report mainly assesses the impact of integration on social welfare, poverty reduction, and business development of enterprises, potential advantages of each locality in building and adjusting its integration policy.
