The French news agency AFP reported that the race will be hosted in the capital city of Ha Noi, with the circuit set to be unveiled at a gala next week, quoting an invite letter of the municipal People’s Committee on November 1.

Ha Noi initially proposed the Government to organize the race around the iconic Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake and along the adjacent streets in the city centre, but the idea was rejected after thorough reviews by the city and the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The capital city then wanted to host the game in the My Dinh sports complex in Nam Tu Liem district to take advantage of the existing infrastructure there.

The local authorities acknowledged the necessity to host world-scale cultural and sport events in Viet Nam to advertize the image of Ha Noi in particular and Viet Nam in general to international friends.

Viet Nam would become the third Southeast Asian nation to welcome the top-flight racing after Malaysia and Singapore. Ha Noi would be the second city in the Southeast Asian region to organize the race in 2020 with Singapore./.
