This is the second time Viet Nam hosts a SEA Game with 36 sports of which two-thirds are included in the official competition programs of Olympic and Asiad Games.

Under the first scenario, SEA Games 31 would take place as scheduled as the pandemic could be put under control worldwide, Covid-19 vaccines could be  mass-produced, and the world’s economy could be on the recovery track. In this scenario, Viet Nam would face certain challenges such as poor sponsorship after a long period of the disease impacts on the economy.

In the second scenarioCovid-19 would be still raging, pandemic prevention measures including medical checks and quarantine could be applied. The organization of the event would face enormous difficulties.

The final scenario is the cancellation and postponement of SEA Games 31 if the Covid-19 pandemic could not be put under control.

The SEA Games 31 is slated for Ha Noi and surrounding localities from November 21 to December 2. Para Games 11 will take place from December 17-23.

As many as 11 countries in the Southeast Asian region are expected to attend the sporting.

Previously, Viet Nam hosted the 22nd SEA Games at the My Dinh National Stadium./
