VGP – The consumer price index (CPI) in May reduced to 0.69% and 1.21% in Hồ Chí Minh City and Hà Nội respectively, according to the General Statistics Office.

The capital city of Hà Nội saw CPI increase of 1.21% last month, the second consecutive months that saw the CPI slowed down.

Price stabilization activities, inflation curbing measures, and social welfare solutions have attributed to the decline in CPI, according to economic experts.

They also said that public spending cut and the implementation of the price stabilization program in 2011 have contributed to dragging down the CPI figures.

Meanwhile, the CPI in Hồ Chí Minh City in May rose 0.69% month-on-month, the lowest surge over the past eight months.

The decrease stemmed from abundant provision of food following the price stabilization program in the municipal city./.
