VGP - Ha Noi served more than 13.1 million tourists in the first half of this year (a year-on-year rise of 10%), with around 3 million foreign visitors (up nearly 26%) and over 10.1 million domestic arrivals (up 6%).
According to the municipal Department of Tourism, total revenue from tourism is estimated at VND39.212 trillion, up 9.3% over the same period last year. The visitors came from nearly 190 countries and territories with China, the Republic of Korea and Japan topping the list.
The general picture shows that tourist arrivals to the capital city in June and the previous five months maintained a stable upward trend.
Some destinations have attracted a large number of visitors such as Huong Son Pagoda with 1,409,675 visitors in the first half of this year (up 12%), Van Mieu Temple of Literature with 1,008,600 visitors (up around 15%) and Ngoc Son Temple with 468,100 visitors (equal to the same period last year).
Destinations in Ba Vi district received more than 1.1 million visitors in the first five months of this year (up 9.17%) and around 380,000 in June (up 3% against the same period last year).
The department attributed the increase to development investment and planning of tourism products, expanded tourism promotion and improved quality of tourism products.
From now to the end of 2018, the sector will hasten the upgrading of infrastructure and plans to develop Bat Trang pottery village and Van Phuc silk village, and carry out a planning scheme to turn Ba Vi-Suoi Hai site into a national tourism site by 2025.
The department will also support businesses in tourism promotion both inside and outside the country, while inviting travel agencies to participate in domestic and international tourism events.
This year, Ha Noi expects to serve more than 25.4 million holidaymakers, including 5.5 million foreigners, and gross some VND75.78 trillion (US$$3.33 billion) in revenue.
