VGP - Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung has received C40 Executive Director Mark Watts.
At a meeting, Mr. Hung said Ha Noi will make a list of specific items to get assistance from C40 in climate change response.
The capital city has invested in urban development in tandem with sustainably environmental protection, he said, adding that the city has focused on handling water and air pollution, plastic waste, exhaust fumes and dust.
At the same time, the city is seeking ways to use renewable energies in order to reduce gas emissions, Hung said.
To implement the climate action plan in the city, Ha Noi is developing many specific projects for each task and is studying the budget for the project. In the process, Ha Noi wishes to receive interest and financial support, especially from C40 networks, he said.
For his part, C40 Executive Director Mark Watts said with abundant financial resources, the C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group (C40) could help Ha Noi with climate change response.
Mark Watts, therefore, wants Ha Noi to actively exchange and share the contents of the city's climate change plan so that the C40 can help Ha Noi achieve this goal.
In agreement with the proposals from Ha Noi authority, Mark Watts said that Ha Noi's climate change adaptation campaign will be the first target to receive cooperation and support from the C40 networks.
He also pledged to provide support for C40 member cities in environmental protection as they committed.
During the working session, C40 representatives suggested enhancing cooperation and use of renewable energies in Viet Nam and Ha Noi in particular.
